I got my Bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science. After college, I worked as a computer programmer /IT person for 4 years before I decided to go back to school at National Louis University to get my Masters in Teaching Secondary Education. I taught math at both the high school and college level. I have a lot of lawyers in my family and I have been their IT department. I sat through a training on Smokeball and was very impressed! History was made. While working with my family and working at Smokeball I have gained extensive knowledge in many areas of law. My strongest knowledge base is in Real Estate Law, Family Law, Estate Planning, Personal Injury, and Probate and Estate Administration. I am also very comfortable with Business formation, Immigration, Worker’s Compensation, Criminal Law and Debt & Bankruptcy.

I was born in 1974 and I have been married to my awesome husband since I was 23. We have 3 boys ages 13, 10 and 7. I played sports all through my youth (softball and volleyball) and I continue to be very active with my boys.

I love to bake (not cook) and I am an avid reader; I love most anything fiction. For music, the answer is I love it! As long as it is not opera or showtunes. I listen to most anything else. I am also a huge fan of board games and card games.

My dream vacation is to go to adult camp where I could horseback ride, water ski, sail, wind surf, snorkel, play tennis, do archery, even arts and crafts. I LOVE CAMP!!!!

He received his J.D. cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis where he served as a Senior Editor on the Washington University Law Review. While at Wash. U., he clerked for the Hon. Jean C. Hamilton (U.S. Dist. Court for the E.D. Missouri) and held the prestigious Thompson Coburn Research Fellowship, serving as Research Assistant to the Vice-Dean. Jonnell is a Client Success Trainer. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a completely impractical Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. After briefly living in Seattle, she moved to Chicago, her favorite city in the world (so far). Jonnell came to Smokeball from LexisNexis where she was an Account Executive, training law school students and faculty on how to use LexisNexis legal research products. When not helping lawyers learn to use Smokeball, Jonnell is a life-long Cubs fan, prefers road trips to flying, loves summer music festivals, reading everything she can get her hands on and photography.

As the primary person using all of the features and uses available with the Smokeball software, I can attest to how wonderful every aspect of the software is. Including the support and assistance we receive from everyone at Smokeball. Our account trainer/manager, Julie, goes above and beyond to make sure we are up to date with Smokeball. Julie's assistance from install to post-install, a year later, has been exceptional. Appreciate all Julie does to assist our Firm and I appreciate all that Smokeball does to help with our Firm practice. Thank you!

I have Smokeball and outlook set up on a few computers and a Surface tablet, as I have not been able to kick the desktop habit yet. This has caused some issues with emails in Smokeball, mostly due to my own making.
Smokeball support has been incredible and understanding in dealing with these issues. They have always gone above and beyond to make sure that Smokeball works the way it is supposed to and the way that I need it to.
Best customer service experience that I have ever had with a company, especially a legal services company. Thanks to Julie and the entire Smokeball team!

Jim Pratt | Pratt Law LLC

Alisha was great. I was skeptical about the program in the beginning (change can be a little overwhelming), but she explained the program so well. Smokeball has made it so user friendly and easy to use. So looking forward to using it. Thank you.

Katie Barnese | Robert A. Sternberg. APLC

Overall, Smokeball has made our office MUCH more efficient. Being able to access files, schedules, documents, etc remotely has been extremely helpful. The time spent on document prep has also been cut down tremendously. Smokeball's customer service is great. They respond the same day with a phone call for any help ticket we submit. Despite having to work through some bugs, we are very happy with the program.
