One of our New Year’s resolutions here at Smokeball is to spotlight some of our talented (and fun!) team members who help make Smokeball such an amazing place to work. Kicking off our first Employee Spotlight is Angie Wilde, one of our legal forms & content specialists. Here’s a short Q&A to help you get to know Angie (almost) as well as we do!
Q: Where are you from?
A: In my heart, St. Lucia…but in reality, Chicago, Illinois.
Q: How long have you been working for Smokeball?
A: A few weeks shy of one year. Whoo hoo!
Q: What did you do before joining Smokeball? Do you have a legal or tech background?
A: I suppose you could refer to me as tech savvy, but before Smokeball I worked as a paralegal handling multi-million dollar civil litigation suits and as a corporate paralegal with a speciality financing private equity group. My background is 100% legal.
Q: We know there’s no such thing as a “typical” day at Smokeball–but if you had to say, what does a normal day look like for you?
A: My typical day involves reviewing content form requests from clients and managing contractors from various countries around the world. Some of my specific duties include (but aren’t limited to) assigning their workload, evaluating their work projects; and publishing forms to the content server that were successfully converted by our contractors.
Q: What is your silliest memory at Smokeball?
A: There are a lot of silly times here at Smokeball. We have the pleasure of working for and with Australians so some of the silliest memories I have involve any time Australian slang is used and the ensuing confusion by us “Yanks.” We have a lot of disagreements on the pronunciation of Notre Dame–but that is a tale for another day!
Q: Describe your favorite team outing.
A: My favorite team outing would have to be when the Content team went bowling downtown. I learned how absolutely awful we are at bowling…
Q: What is the most fun t-shirt you own?
A: I have a pretty amazing t-shirt with different types of ninja poses…it is basically a person dressed as a ninja doing normal everyday things or hiding behind a tree—you know, ninja things. Clearly describing it does it no justice! It is cute, I promise.
Q: What is your favorite 3 p.m. snack?
A: If I was not so allergic, it would be a granny smith apple, but I settle for a delicious bag of Skinny Pop.
