March has been an incredibly busy month here at Smokeball. Now that the ABA TECHSHOW is behind us and the launch of Activity Intelligence is humming along smoothly, we’re taking some time out to acknowledge and appreciate the employees who are making great things happen behind the scenes at Smokeball. Without further adieu, here’s a profile of this month’s featured Smokeball rockstar, Bin Rii.

Q: What is your name?

A: My full name is Eunbin Rii, but I go by “Bin”

Q: Where are you from?

A: I grew up in the Vernon Hills, a northern suburb of Chicago. I currently live in the South Loop.

Q: How long have you been working for Smokeball? What is your job title?

A: I’ve been with Smokeball for one year. My job title is Counsel/Legal Research Manager.

Q: What did you do before joining Smokeball? Do you have a legal or tech background?

A: I have both a legal and tech background. Before joining Smokeball, I was litigation counsel for the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission prosecuting attorneys for professional misconduct. I also did criminal defense work in Ohio. Before I became an attorney, I was an IT consultant as a programmer and network administrator for several years.

Q: What does your “typical” day look like?

A: My typical day involves designing, researching, and reviewing matter type specifications for new and existing practice areas. I also answer questions for our sales and onboarding teams about client matters or practice areas they might not be familiar with.

Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Smokeball?

A: I work with smart, witty, fun, and hardworking people that genuinely care about our clients and the success of our business. We are all passionate about helping our client improve their practice and quality of life.

Q: What is your silliest memory at Smokeball?

A: Silly and funny moments happen all the time at Smokeball! I do recall putting on a red clown nose and juggling baseballs in the office with our Talent Manager, Mike Smith.   

Q: Describe your favorite team outing.

A: Last summer, we had an outing to see the Australian South Sydney Rabbitohs play against the USA Eagles at Soldier Field. Rabbitohs won 47-10.

Q: What is the most fun t-shirt you own?

A: I have a t-shirt that says: “Dear Karma, I have a list of people you missed.”

Q: What is your favorite 3 pm snack?

A: I usually get a latte or flat white. It’s just enough coffee to get me through the afternoon.
