Workstations and Tablets
Smokeball is designed to work on workstations or tablets running supported versions of Microsoft Windows, not a server, with a broadband internet connection. Apple Macs are NOT supported.
Smokeball requires a minimum of:
- 8 GB of available RAM
- 3 GHz Intel i5 processor or equivalent
- 5 GB free on C:\ hard disk drive
1280 x 1024 or greater
Any virtual desktop instances must be allocated dedicated system resources that match our hardware and operating system requirements. Performance of any virtual desktop environment is the sole responsibility of the firm.
Terminal Servers is not supported
Citrix environments is not supported
Smokeball requires a broadband network connection. Performance on mobile services via 4G or LTE will depend on coverage offered by the service provider and is NOT recommended for daily use of Smokeball. Proxy server is NOT supported. In all instances, Smokeball must bypass any proxy server.
Smokeball requires 64-Bit Professional version of the Microsoft Windows Operating System, running the latest services packs and Microsoft Windows Updates. Starter and RT editions of Windows are NOT supported. Mac OS is NOT supported.

Office 365 Business Subscriptions are required to be on a plan that includes access to Office Desktop applications for local installation. We do not support Office 2010, which includes Outlook 2010 and MS Word 2010.
If your firm uses Microsoft Exchange Server, it must be in Exchange Cached Mode configuration.
IMAP connectivity in Microsoft Exchange is NOT supported. Exchange ActiveSync is NOT supported.
Scanners with the ability to scan to an application (such as ScanSnap) or desktop scanners with TWAIN driver support are suitable for scanning documents directly onto a matter in Smokeball.
All network scanners are NOT supported regardless of their TWAIN driver support. Scanning solutions that form part of a multifunction device (e.g. printer/copier/scanner/fax machine) are NOT supported, regardless of their TWAIN driver support.
Third Party Applications
Third party software, legacy software and/or software add-ins may interfere with Smokeball’s performance and should be uninstalled prior to the installation of Smokeball.
Anti-Virus applications may interfere with Smokeball. Smokeball Helpdesk may be required to work with your IT contact to set exceptions or other settings for Smokeball components. We recommend Microsoft Security Essentials as a reliable and free anti-virus solution.
