Top Restaurants for ABA TECHSHOW Attendees

March 1, 2016

The ABA TECHSHOW is just around the corner and our team couldn’t be more excited to dive into the latest legal tech trends, as well as unveil a few surprises of our own. While we’re lucky to be based in Chicago, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the show, others are traveling from far and wide to attend. Are you one of them? If so, we hope you’re bringing your appetite! Chicago is one of the culinary capitals of the U.S., and a trip to the Windy City wouldn’t be complete without a visit to at least one of our favorite local restaurants. Here are some of our top recommendations for places to grab a bite while you’re in town for TECHSHOW. If you feel like stopping by booth 109 with some leftovers, you won’t hear us complaining.

Yolk South Loop (Walk Time from TECHSHOW: 5 Minutes)

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and with ABA TECHSHOW’s jam-packed schedule, this could not be more true. Only a five minute walk from the event, this breakfast establishment is ready to impress locals and out-of-towners alike. We recommend the french toast or the eggs benedict–whichever will energize you more for all that TECHSHOW has to offer!

Cafecito (Walk Time: 7 Minutes)

If you’re looking for a quick bite and want to branch out from mainstays like Starbucks, look no further than Cafecito. Cafecito is a fast casual restaurant that serves pressed and specialty sandwiches and extremely strong coffee–what’s not to love? The restaurant tends to get a bit crowded during the lunchtime rush, but if you’re as committed to finding a table as you are to finding a practice management solution, we’re sure you’ll get there early.

Chicago Style Pizza

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria

Pizano’s Pizza

(Walk Times: 5, 15, 18 Minutes)

It’s a travesty to make a trip to Chicago without checking out one of these pizza joints. While there’s a never-ending debate about which pizza takes the Chicago deep-dish crown, these three restaurants are considered the top contenders by most locals. For those unfamiliar, Chicago-style pizza has the sauce on top, with the cheese and goodies layered below, encased in a deep layer of doughy crust. Newbies beware: it’s best eaten with a knife and fork. All three of these restaurants are within walking distance of the ABA TECHSHOW so there’s no shame in checking out more than one during your visit.

Miller’s Pub (Walk Time: 12 Minutes)

If you’re looking for a traditional Chicago pub to unwind at after TECHSHOW, there’s no better option than Miller’s Pub. Serving seafood, ribs, Italian dishes and an eclectic variety of appetizers, this restaurant offers enough variety to appease your whole team, and enough ambiance to keep you comfortable for hours. Miller’s can get a little crowded at night, so it’s a good idea to call ahead for a reservation.

Cindy’s Rooftop at the CAA (Walk Time: 13 Minutes)

Looking for a jaw-dropping view and a fabulous cocktail to go along with it? Cindy’s at the newly renovated and historic Chicago Athletic Association is a refined trip back in time. If you’re looking for one of the most awe-inspiring new spots in the city, just a short walk up Michigan Avenue will reward you with one of the best views in Chicago.

Brasserie by LM (Walk Time: 1 Minute)

Brasserie by LM is perfect for breakfast, lunch or a casual dinner. The restaurant offers a short but delicious menu with French and Italian inspired dishes–perfect for unwinding before or after the TECHSHOW. Brasserie by LM is also known for its reasonably priced bottles of great wine!

The ABA TECHSHOW is sure to keep you busy and on your feet all day, so filling up before and after is key.  You’re not you when you’re hungry, right? For more information on the ABA TECHSHOW, take a look at their blog and make sure you stop by Smokeball’s booth 109 and say hi!
