“The Murdaugh Murders Reversal: Autopsy of a Flawed Prosecution”

Alex Murdaugh, once a prominent South Carolina attorney, was convicted of murder — only to win a new trial after the South Carolina Supreme Court found that Clerk of Court Rebecca Hill had tampered with the jury, violating his right to a fair and impartial trial. Drawing on clips from the courtroom, this SPARK session led by attorney Philip Bogdanoff breaks down how that misconduct unfolded and why it went undetected for so long. Leave with concrete strategies for safeguarding your own cases from being overturned due to jury misconduct.

“Digital Evidence in the Modern Age: Social Media, Emoticons, and AI”

Litigation increasingly turns on evidence that didn't exist a decade ago: social media posts, emojis, text threads, and AI-generated content. Courts are still working out consistent rules for handling this material, which leaves real room for attorneys who understand it well. This SPARK session covers the key issues — authenticating digital evidence, interpreting ambiguous content, and spotting AI-generated or manipulated material before it becomes a problem at trial.
