How to identify a fraudulent recruitment scam:

  • The job offer is unsolicited and you did not apply for the position.
  • The job offer seems too good to be true, with a high salary or benefits for little or no experience.
  • The scammer communicates with you through a free email service or social media platform, rather than a Smokeball email address.
  • The scammer asks you for money upfront for training or background checks.

What to do if you are targeted by a scam:

  • Do not respond to the communication.
  • Do not send any money or personal information.
